I discovered Portland Leather Goods a few months ago and have fallen in love with not only their products but their whole design aesthetic. My first bag and wallet, The Medium Crossbody Tote and the Rancher Wallet were my Christmas present to myself 😉 I was gifted the pebble black Bucket Backpack (thank you so much Portland Leather). Let’s get into the reviews!
Review: Medium Crossbody Tote
Color: Dune (close match to Honey)
Pros: I truly love this bag and the natural, effortless look it adds to any outfit. The strap on the Medium Crossbody Tote is adjustable to fit the length that you need, or you can fully remove it to wear as a handbag. There is lots of space on the inside. I usually just keep my wallet, hand sanitizer, and sunnies inside. But you could definitely fit a book or two, baby toys, a notebook, or a tablet. I think the medium size tote is perfect for every day! I have also seen the Mini Crossbody Tote up close and it’s just a little smaller. Definitely is still a practical size that can fit plenty inside. A huge ‘pro’ for this company is that they run an “Almost Perfect Sale” (that’s where I got my crossbody). This tab is stocked with items that may be imperfect, like stitching or excessive marking on the leather, for example. Though if you check the reviews, you’ll be hard-pressed to find any that mention imperfections at all.
Cons: Not too many cons here. I will say, just remember it’s real leather, so treat it with care, don’t get it drenched, and make sure you’re cleaning it with the proper products. One thing I wish this bag had was a zipper enclosure on the inside. There is a small pouch for your phone though, which is handy!
Review: Rancher Wallet
Color: Sangria
Pros: What a cute little wallet (which is currently part of the “Almost Perfect sale)! I used to carry a much bulkier wallet, but as soon as I realized everything fit in this one I was so happy. The Rancher Wallet design is super sleek and slim. There are 3 slots for cards in the centerfold; I can fit 2 cards in each slot. Then there are two larger pockets on the flaps of the wallet to store more cards, cash, photos, etc. The color is beautiful and there are lots of other color options available too. This wallet is lightweight, each to toss in my bag or carry by itself.
Cons: No zipper. The only thing is I wish there was one small zipper, but honestly, the side flaps are secure enough, it hasn’t been a deal-breaker. Plus, they do sell wallets designed with zippers, if that’s what you need.
Review: Bucket Backpack
Color: Pebbled Black
Pros: This Bucket Backpack is my new favorite bag! Little backpacks are very trendy at the moment and the bucket silhouette reminds me of the styles that I was giddy over as a butterfly clip, clog wearing diva in the 90s. I love this one for a sporty outfit; gonna be so perfect this spring and summer! There is a drawstring at the top along with a snap enclosure at the front. The straps are fully adjustable to fit the length you need, and the hardware is sturdy. The main thing I love about carrying a backpack is that it’s so lightweight because everything is evenly distributed across your shoulders. You can barely feel it while it’s on! I’m also obsessed with this pebble black texture, but it comes in smooth and several other colors. The size is deceiving; this little guy can fit a lot! I would compare its overall size to the Mini Crossbody Tote, just slightly smaller than the Medium Crossbody that I reviewed above.
Cons: There is no zipper in the backpack, so if you’re worried about security, maybe try a different style.
To sum it up
Every product I have purchased and received from Portland Leather has been a thumbs up from me. There are countless style and color combinations to choose from, it’s just a matter of going for it! In my experience, you won’t be disappointed with what you choose. I suggest following them on Instagram too because they host giveaways (and wouldn’t that be awesome to win?)!
