Did you know that the state of Queensland in Australia is actually larger in land mass than Alaska? Brisbane is located in the southern part of the state and the further north you travel, the more tropical the climate becomes. That’s why we thought the Sunshine Coast region would be a perfect spot for a long weekend getaway.
Where We Stayed
Nestled in the hinterland village of Peachester, QLD is the beautiful Mango Hill Farm. It’s a privately-owned venue perfect for family holidays, couples getaways, and they even rent out for special events like weddings.
We met the owners and they were so sweet and accommodating! Seriously, the hospitality level of Aussies is hard to beat. Mango Hill Farm sits up in the mountains, a bit away from the noise of the city.
There are plenty of animals to meet including horses, alpacas, goats, and chickens! It really is perfect if you’re looking for some peace and quiet in a beautiful, homey setting.
The Glass House Mountains
If you’re in the area for a few days, one thing you want to put on your list is to visit the Glass House Mountains. Rich in Aboriginal history, the Glass House Mountains provide casual to rugged hiking trails and one-of-a-kind views. Caleb and I hiked Mt. Tibrogargan which was perfect for including in part of our day trip.
Afternoon Tea in the Hinterland
After all that hiking, it’s a good idea to refuel. So what better of a way than to stop at The Edge for some coffee and cake (I recommend the Raspberry & White Chocolate Torte)!
Boasting panoramic views of the Sunshine Coast, The Edge is the perfect classy-casual spot to grab breakfast, lunch, or tea. It’s located in Montville and while you definitely have to be intentional about getting there, the village of Montville is worth the drive.
After you enjoy the mountain scenery along the way, you are rewarded with the cutest village of shops, eateries, and galleries.
