Another weekend is here! With everyone staying in as much as possible, it may start to become difficult to find excitement and inspiration at home. Canceled parties and travel plans are tough but I know there people facing much tougher realities right now too.
Just because we’re at home doesn’t mean life has necessarily slowed down; actually, I feel like I’m busier than I have been in a long time. Workdays are now a mixture of video calls and loads of laundry. Evenings are packed with everything else I can’t do during the day, just like normal.
I’m just being honest when I say I think I need a beach. And also, the spa (don’t we all!). So, I jotted down five fun ways you can have both by creating your very own beach spa haven right at home!
Most of these ideas you can probably do with things you already have, but if not, you can see my recommendations throughout. 🙂
5 fun ways to bring the beach spa to your house
1. Turn on a sound machine
What’s one of the first things you think about when you get excited about the beach. Waves, right? Honey, bring the sound of the waves to you with a sound machine. I have this one, but other options, like this and this have good reviews, too.
2. Use an essential oil diffuser
I absolutely love my Mogu brand oil diffuser. Amazon also has several, like this one, that has a similar natural look! I personally like using eucalyptus oil, but lavender or anything citrus would be wonderful as well.
3. Pamper your skin with a clay mask + moisturizer
I love it when I have some time to give my skin a little extra TLC. Clay masks are a great way to moisturize and nourish. I recently discovered this Terra Beauty Bars Rose Clay Dry Mask and I am in love! This one made me feel extra fancy because, as the name says, it comes dry and you need to mix it. I used some drops of shea and coconut oil with a little water and it was perfect! My skin felt *so* soft afterward.
If you want something a little more low-maintenance, try this Avocado + Oatmeal and Clay Mask. I have used this one for years and it’s amazing. All you have to do is slather it on. It feels cool to the skin, plus I love that it’s bright green!
After your mask is dry and you rinse it off, finish with a good moisturizer. I recommend this one by Estee Lauder. From the moment I put it on, I got instant beach vibes because it smells amazing! I would describe it as airy floral with a hint of sunscreen. Not greasy, just great.
One last thing: drink enough water each day. It will help every part of your body, including your skin!
4. Wear loose, comfortable clothing
Okay, you notice I did not recommend wearing your swimsuit inside! 🙂 When you really want to relax, wear something super comfy like…pajamas. I like this navy 2-piece pajama set or this floral one. This soft tie-dye kimono is so cute if you’re feeling extra beachy and would be really comfortable with leggings!
4. Prep your skin for a sunless glow
Everyone pretty much agrees shaving is a hassle, so I appreciate when companies try to make it a better experience. I started having the Billie Razor kit shipped to me last year and I absolutely love it. It’s cheap and you can customize your shipping of refills for a frequency that suits you. I also recommend their Shave Cream. This company uses natural, clean ingredients which is great. The auto shipping notifications are like a personal assistant just looking out for my legs!
Next up, get that sunless glow! One of my favorite sunless tanning products is the Jeurgens Natural Glow Instant Sun Mousse. It dries super quickly and I’ve never had an issue with it staining my clothing. It turns bronze right away and you’ll continue to see it develop over a few hours. It is better to use an application mitt like this one to help spread it evenly and also keep your hands clean.
If you want a more gradual effect, I can recommend this lotion from Ocean Potion. The color is buildable so if you use it several days in a row, you’ll achieve a deeper color. It smells like bubblegum and sunshine.
5. Grab a good book
When I’m ready to relax, I really try to get away from the screen. Plus, there’s just something about holding a book that takes me right to the beach. Grab your favorite novel or inspirational book. I’m recommending some below!
For me, it’s fun to think about creative ways to make the most of a less-than-great situation, so when I can’t get to the places I really enjoy, I improvise. I hope these ideas have inspired you to see that you can still pamper yourself without going to the spa, and you can still get a little bit of the beach without getting sand in your sandals!
There are a thousand ways to take care of yourself from the comfort of home. What did I miss? Comment your favorite indoor spa tip to share with everyone!
Ahhh—you’ve inspired me! 💚
