Organizing My Bedroom and Vanity

I get ready every day using the mirror on my dresser. Not the bathroom, or a full walk-in closet, not even at a separate sit-down vanity. I think I have always been more comfortable standing up to do my makeup and hair, plus with limited space, it is very simple to learn how to accommodate for necessities.

So, that’s exactly what I set out to do when I noticed things had become a little messy in my vanity space. Take a look at these Before-and-Afters, then I’ll get into the details!

The differences may be subtle, but when you’re in the space every single day, staying organized can make a huge difference. It helps my mind keep clearer when the spaces I’m looking at are not a jumbled mess. Plus it also helps quicken my morning routine knowing exactly where everything is. Believe me, I realize I am no Marie Kondo, but every little bit helps!

I’ll explain the products I used and tag the options to shop (in case you’re inspired to reorganize too).

First up, my round acrylic organizer! I keep all my makeup in each compartment and brushes fit nicely in the center for easy access. There are tons of these on Amazon; here’s a popular one. It also stacks perfectly with my glasses holder, seen below.

Glasses holder has 2 drawers and a deep top for stacking.

I have a couple of jewelry trays, like this one and this one, that keep smaller jewelry organized. This three-tiered organizer is perfect for hanging my necklaces and bracelets.

I keep this makeup pouch nearby with all my powders and eyeshadow palettes. Love the slender design and would be great to toss inside a tote for work too. I’m also linking my favorite travel case for makeup. I love the separate compartments and it fits all my beauty products, including full-size skincare items.

Simple Room Decor

Now let’s dive into the decor that I use in my room. I wanted this space to be modern with a touch of bohemian. The dresser and bed came in a set that Caleb and I bought back when we were newlyweds. We were able to keep them in storage with family while we were overseas for a few years, but I am very happy to have them back in our new home. The whole look has more of a neutral feel; I didn’t want Caleb coming home to a room that was too feminine in style. And to be honest, that’s not my tendency either.

Regis loves all the soft textures too.

This is what we see when we first walk into the room.
Red Vintage Style Rug | Woven textured Bohemian Bench with wood legs | Light grey-blue slipper chair| Hat wall. I hang the hats with these Command Hooks.

Caleb likes that this comforter has the waffle texture! Shop a similar set here | Faux Fur accent shag | White ceramic candle | accent lamp | black throw pillows | 8×10 Rug | similar nightstands

Mixing Texture and Patterns

As you can see, I am not shy when using different textures. In this room, I have kept things relatively neutral with an emphasis on all the designs and patterns. We have the waffle texture on the bed, soft fluffy accent shag, tasseled pillows, woven upholstered bench with a rich wood color, the list continues. I love the pop of color that the floor rug brings to the room; more of a masculine take on its vintage style.

Staying Tidy

It’s my sincere goal to keep this room tidy as possible this year. With Caleb’s shifts at the hospital being different each week, it’s a simple thing that I can be intentional about to help our home feel comfortable after hard and long hours of work. With my new organizers and simple decor, I think I have a decent shot at maintaining the clean look that I truly love.
