Top 3 Hidden Gems at Noosa

Noosa Beach, located north of Sunshine Coast in Queensland, is the gem of the east coast and renown across the globe. There are so many ways to fall in love with Noosa, but I’ve outlined my top three, below.

1. Noosa River

The first time we ever went to Noosa, we ended up having to park near the mouth of the river — we thought it would be a hassle to make it out to the beach from there. Boy, were we wrong! The river instantly became our favorite simply because of its tranquility and beauty.

Just walk through the canopy of trees that line the sand and experience the river becoming the ocean right before your eyes. This spot is special because it’s often a bit quieter than the more popular Main Beach. If you’re looking for a little bit of Noosa’s best, be sure not to miss this often-forgotten piece of paradise.

2. National Forest Trails

Just beyond the Main Beach at Noosa, away from all the shops and seaside restaurants, you’ll find the entrance to Noosa National Park. The pathway along the ocean is often lined with surfers who are either coming from or going to some of the best surf spots the world has to offer.

The forest and its wildlife are conserved, so if you’re lucky like we have been, you might just see a koala relaxing up in one of the hundreds of eucalyptus trees throughout the trails. Another great thing about this forest is that most of the pathways are wheelchair and stroller (pram) accessible — fun and safe for the entire family. The national forest trails are also a perfect segway into my next favorite hidden gem:

3. Secluded Coves and Rock Pools

Why? Because in order to see the rock pools (or fairy pools) at Noosa, you’ve got to be in the mood for a little hike. Before you reach “The Boiling Pot”, there are countless little coves to venture into for a quiet picnic or an afternoon siesta under a palm. Most of these entryways are well-marked since people often have visited the natural pools for so long. I suggest parking at the entrance of Noosa National Park if you’re out to see these secret spots. There will still be plenty of walking, but it will save you miles of time that you can spend relaxing at your destination instead.

These are just three of my favorite things about Noosa that I wanted to spotlight. I hope when you plan to visit Noosa you will remember my little list of hidden gems!
